The Worcester Accent

Jimmy was watching ESPN tonight. He came upstairs and had me look up information about J.P. Ricciardi. He said “vi-er a trade”. Jimmy was convinced that J.P. was from Worcester. No one else would pronounce via that way.

Jimmy was right, he’s got that accent down after visiting my relatives in Worcester. J.P. was born September 26, 1959 in Worcester and went on to play baseball for St. Peter’s/St. Peter-Marian High School in Worcester. (info via Wikipedia)

I tend to forget that one of the guys I work with grew up there until he mentions an ide-er he had.
